The challenge: London’s Hackney area has in recent years become known as Tech City, a regeneration cluster of start-up businesses. SME businesses disproportionately contribute to job creation and economic growth in the UK, but these small businesses struggle to grow without access to the right levels of skills and support.
Investable Solution: Cloud.IQ, located in Hackney, provides marketing services and mentorship to other firms in the Tech City cluster. The business offers technology that allows organisations to manage their marketing communications simultaneously across multiple channels. This technology improves the customer experience and the effectiveness of websites, helping to drive increased sales for SMEs, charities and public sector clients.
The business runs multiple internship and apprenticeship schemes and run regular free training and events in their local community. Cloud.IQ also works closely with Hackney Community College and London Met on their individual apprenticeship schemes.
Outcomes: Cloud.IQ supports 39 full-time employees, 28 of whom come from underserved communities. To date, three former interns and apprentices have founded start-ups. Cloud.IQ also employs the services of other local start-ups, in design, legal, marketing and recruitment.
